Endora's mere presence commanded attention on Bewitched. But as the years wore on, we've noticed that Endora's fondness for flying suits tapered off a lot more than her willingness to forgo witchcraft in her daughter's house ever did.

Her wardrobe can be broken down into four groups.

1. Flying suit: Except for one episode (# 239), the flying suits are all alike.

2. Witches gown: Generally a full-length colorful robe type garment. These gowns always had long sleeves, and sometimes layered an inner and outer garment. In later seasons, these were frequently worn with two or more strands of beads.

3. Mortal clothes: Worn when she is in contact with mortals other than Darrin. In the early years, these were fairly common, as she wore the flying suit often and would zap herself into mortal clothes when contact with humans was forthcoming. In the later seasons, the witches gowns were more prevalent and these were worn in the presence of mortals, greatly reducing the need for mortal clothes.

4. Costume: Endora wore costumes on some occasions, as befitting a role she was playing. These include a waitress, Peter Pan-type character, Knave of Hearts, etc.

Endora in a Doll Costume in # 233

Season 1:

Endora appeared in 22 of the 36 first season one episodes of Bewitched. The flying suit was worn in 20 of these 22 episodes. The episodes in which Endora appeared are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30, 33, 34, 35, and 36. The flying suit was not seen in episodes 19 and 20, episodes in which she wore mortal clothing only.

The season started with frequent appearances by Endora. She was in the first five episodes, and eight of the first 11. After # 11, she skipped five episodes before appearing in episodes 17-20. After that, her appearances were fairly evenly spaced, usually two or three episodes in a row and then skip two.

The use of mortal clothing occurred early, starting in episode 2, and was used in 12 more episodes, mostly in the latter half of the season. She usually wore one or two mortal outfits in an episode with the exception of # 35 (where she wore four). She also appeared briefly in two costumes in # 3.

The witches gown was not used in season one.

Season 2:

Endora again appeared in 20 episodes in the second season. They were: 37, 38, 40, 41, 43, 45, 46, 47, 49, 50, 54, 58, 59, 60, 62, 65, 69, 71, 72, and 73. She wore the flying suit in 15 of these episodes. The exceptions are: 40, 49, 54, 58, and 65.

Season two's wardrobe was very heavy on mortal clothing outfits. In fact, they were worn in 17 episodes. Again, usually one or two different outfits were worn per episode, with the exception of # 43 (where she wore four). The only episodes where mortal outfits were not worn were episodes 46, 59, and 73.

There were no witches gowns worn in the second season.

A Chinese costume appeared briefly in # 65, and a Tibetan costume was seen in # 71.

Season 3:

Endora appeared in 22 episodes the third season: 75, 77, 79, 80, 81, 82, 84, 85, 86, 91, 92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 101, 102, 103, 104, and 107. The flying suit was worn in all but three episodes (82, 96, and 107.)

Episode # 82 was the first episode in season three that the suit was not used. In this episode, Endora wore mortal clothes the entire episode, including three different outfits. In # 96 she wore the witch's gown exclusively. In # 107, she wore the same mortal outfit the entire episode.

The first appearance of a witches gown was in # 81, where she wore one for her attire at her Halloween party. She also appeared briefly in a robe-type garment that was a part of a Mexican celebration costume in # 92. In # 93, she again appeared briefly in a gown as part of a Mardi-Gras costume. So, it was not until # 96 that a witches gown was used as her ensemble for an entire episode. The witches gown appeared again in # 98, followed by appearances in 103 and 104. Thus, the witches gown was seen as her dress in five episodes, with brief appearances as costumes in two others. Mortal clothes were worn in 14 episodes.

Season 4:

Endora was in 18 episodes: 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114, 118, 120, 121, 122, 125, 126, 127, 129, 132, 134, and 139. She wore the flying suit in 10 episodes: 109, 110, 112, 113, 126, 127, 129, 132, 134, and 139.

Season 5:

Endora was in 19 episodes: 141, 143, 144, 145, 146, 153, 154, 157, 158, 159, 162, 163, 164, 165, 166, 167, 168, 169, and 170. She wore her flying suit in 8 episodes: 143, 146, 153, 157, 164, 165, 169, and 170.  It is becoming obvious at this point that the flying suit is a special occasion costume, and she wore it only for short periods, generally favoring the long robe, and occasionally sporting modern clothing when interacting with mortals. Note the gap between 146 and 153 and how her role was stepped up when York went out. Had York stayed on, she might have not made many appearances. She was only in seven of the first 15 episodes; but 11 of the last 15, including the last eight.

Season 6:

She was in 17 episodes: 171, 172, 174, 175, 176, 177, 179, 183, 185, 187, 188, 191, 194, 195, 197, 198, and 199. She wore the flying suit only four times: 191, 194, 197, and 199. Note that her appearances were fairly equally divided between the two halves of the season, but the flying suit was not used until 191, which is two-thirds of the way through the season. In season six, it is becoming more apparent she is using mortal clothes less often, and opts to wear the long gown around mortals.

Season 7:

Endora was in 15 of the 28 episodes: 201, 203, 204, 208, 209, 210, 211, 212, 214, 217, 220, 221, 223, 224, and 227. She wore her flying suit in only two episodes: 204 and 214.

Season 8:

Endora was in 13 of the 26 episodes: 229, 230, 233, 234, 237, 239, 240, 241, 242, 246, 251, 252, and 254. She wore the flying suit in only 4 episodes: 239, 240, 252, and 254. Note that in # 239 the flying suit was a different color (blue over rust).
