UNDOING
THE MAGIC
Generally, one witch cannot undo another witches spell,
and this is often stated on Bewitched. However, from the beginning
Samantha undoes Endora's spells (on inanimate objects) and Maurice undoes
others spells.
- In # 37, Samantha tells Aunt Clara
that she can undo the spell on Darrin if she knew what Clara had said.
When Clara finally finds the spell in a book, Samantha reads it and
the spell is off Darrin.
- In # 169, Endora undoes Henry's
spell after Tabitha shows what Henry did.
- In # 161, Samantha made Serena's
zapped up food disappear.
It could be a case of simple spells like that are common
and known to other witches, so they can be undone. Frequently, the needs
of the script take precedence over other rules.
- In # 229, Samantha undoes Malvina's
spell without knowing what it is.
- In # 27, Aunt Clara makes a water
gun squirt backward and in # 243
Esmeralda does the same thing.
READING
HARPIES BIZARRE
Endora is shown reading
Harpies Bizarre in episodes 2,
3, 82,
129, and 229.
Serena reads Harpies
Bizarre in # 247.
Aunt Hagatha reads
Harpies Bizarre in # 253.
- The same magazine cover is used in all seven episodes.
BEWITCHING
TRIVIA TIDBITS
- Cosmo Sardo, Dick York's hairdresser, was in more than one episode.
- Gerald York, who is frequently spotted as a Bewitched extra,
got screen credit as the Tech. Director in # 129.
- According to the lineup chart in # 91,
Samantha is 5' 7" tall in heels.
- Endora wore a small heart necklace in #'s 58,
77, 82,
145, and 163.
See The Heart Necklace for a picture.
- Samantha keeps the language clean. In # 28
she says "darn", in # 46 she says
"My God", and in # 213 "darned
spots". Otherwise, nothing stronger than "Oh, my stars!"
- In # 9, the Stephen's telephone
number is given as 555-7328; in # 106
as 555- 2134; and in # 141 as 555-2368.
- In # 59 there is a stock footage
shot of Darrin's office building. It has 27 floors, yet the elevator
goes to 15 floors (and there is a 13th floor).
- In # 252, McMann and Tate's offices
are on the 32nd floor.
- In # 26 and # 141,
the 1164 street address is given out to other people, but the city
is given only in # 193.
- In early episodes (e.g., # 6 and
# 10) the teasers are little bits
that have nothing to do with the episode. Episode 6
is the brush man calling, and # 10
is a TV repairman, who does not get credit, yet two customers who
are never seen on the show do get credit.
- In # 64, # 243,
and one other episode, Samantha is shown shelling peas. She eats about
every fourth one. Aren't peas shelled raw? Who eats raw peas?
- In # 211, and some others, the
car that Darrin drives has a dent behind the door on the passenger
side.
- Gladys takes medicine in # 2 and
# 23. Gladys says she will take
her medicine in episode 115. Gladys
#2 (Sandra Gould) is never shown taking it.
- Larry kisses Louise on the lips only in #s 12
and 109.
- Elizabeth Montgomery has a slightly crooked right front tooth with
a small chip from a fall from a horse when she was a youngster.
- According to an early 1965 TV Guide article, Elizabeth Montgomery
wore lighter make up on her nose to make it look smaller under the
overhead lights.
- Dick York, as Darrin, did not appear in the following episodes:
- 1966/67: # 89 and # 100.
- 1967/68: # 129, # 133,
# 134, and # 136.
These were due to back problems for four weeks. Filming of the episodes
was altered so that these four were all filmed together.
- 1968/69: # 160, # 161,
# 162, # 163,
# 165, # 166,
# 168, and # 169.
The show production and air dates did not match that year in order
to put York in every now and then.
- Darrin was fired in episodes 50,
92, 104,
114, 117,
120, 127,
135, 138,
148, 149,
150, 181,
183, 198,
211, and 254.
- Darrin quits in episodes 17, 64,
and 148.
- To see the differences in the relationship between Samantha and
York vs. Sargent as Darrin, compare the greeting Samantha gives Darrin
(York) in episode # 132 to the
one Darrin (Sargent) gets in episode # 252.
Both refer to when Samantha has left Darrin and comes back.
