Samantha used a number of motions or gestures to do magic. The “Nose Twitch” was the best known and most frequently used, but there were others. In # 1, Samantha used a combination of a nose twitch, finger waving, and an incantation to get rid of Endora. All it got her was the reprimand: “Why you naughty little witch.”

This was the only time she used such a combination of actions to do magic. Everything that followed was simpler.

NOSE TWITCH

Actually, she moved her upper lip back and forth, but it was called a nose twitch, and was the most common of her magic motions. (# 251)
The twitch always started with a lip motion to the right, and varied in length from situation to situation. (# 140)
On occasions where someone was near that Samantha did not want to see her twitch, she put her hand up to shield her nose from sight. (# 110)

ONE HAND SNAP

Used to pop out on a few occasions. (# 143)

TWO HAND SNAP

Snapping the fingers of both hands at the same time. (# 143)
Usually with her arms upraised. (# 166)
Most frequently used to pop out, change characters, or change costumes. (# 143)

THE THROW

An overhand throwing motion with her right arm. Usually used when she was mad, as in # 6, and was going to blast someone to who knows where.

She also used the same motion to slam doors, and no one could slam a door like Sam.

To remove a spell from Darrin, Sam wiggles the fingers of her right hand in his face and makes a throwing motion away from him. (# 139)

RAISED ARMS

Not used often. (# 67)

TWO FINGER POINT

Slow arm motion, wrist flex, with index and middle fingers extended. Used both with the fingers curling... (# 251)
...and fingers straight. (# 251)
Sharp arm extension with two fingers pointed straight out. (# 251)
To cast a spell on Darrin over the phone, Samantha makes three circles with her left hand at the phone and ends up with a two finger jab. (# 139)
Extends the arm fairly quickly with two fingers pointed to take a dish away from Tabitha and bring it to herself. (# 163)

“COME HERE” FINGER CURL

One hand extended, the index finger curls in a “come here” motion. (# 132)

FINGER WIGGLE

With both arms extended, used in conjunction with an incantation. (# 140)

UP and DOWN ARM MOTION

Used to change costume. (# 143)

SUBTLETY

No movement, just crossed arms and a fade out. (# 9)
On rare occasions, such as in # 127, Samantha just “popped out” with no visible magic motion.
